۱۰•۵. Comitative Genitive

In the comitative genitive, the modifier identifies a process, which accompanies the nucleus.

In Persian, the comitative genitive is always endocentric and used syndetical. The comitative genitive phrase (like its nucleus and modifier) is a noun phrase in the singular:

Khaqani (12th Century AD)

امشبِ باران به ما دِه گوشه‌ای

تا بیابی در قیامت توشه‌ای!

Rumi (13th Century AD)

The comitative genitive can also have a metaphorical meaning:

دستِ رد /dæst-e rædd/ به سینه‌یِ من زد. (= خواهشِ مرا رد کرد.)
